VIVIANE CASE-FOX -

There are several manners to contemplate a work.

A simple look can be enough for carrying a judgment: we like it or we don't, without anything else. In other situations, the work seems to come to life, it calls us. A simple glance is not enough. A inexhaustible questions seize our thoughts: why use this color palette? Why a line so wide and so present? Why this raw and intense spatter? Why is there left a part of the painting not covered in paint? We meet ourselves, suddenly confronted with the imaginary reality of the artist. We penetrate into her soul. The artist speaks to us, but what does she want to communicate?

Viviane Case-Fox's works are imprinted with this almost provocative strength which obliges the glance to scrutinize beyond the object. The superimposed oil provokes rich transparencies driving our eye towards a second-class dimension. The color, the main subject approached on this work, omnipresent in the work of Case-Fox, transports us in a world of flavors, in a universe of contrasts where the spontaneity of the composition is transformed into allegory; where the stubbornness of the knocks of spatulas and brushes becomes a comfortable balance to the eye; where the doggedness of the artist wants to communicate itself becomes a work overflowing with love and passion.

I've been struck by the lightning of Viviane Case-Fox's works' for several years. Among them, one picture particularly touched me. We find two characters there; unknown people, with knowledgeable eyes, they make me recall members of family, friends and other personalities in the eyes of the others. For me, they became two accomplices stemming from the Magnificent World of Case-Fox. Even today, every day, they manage to make me steal a glance, a smile or? Another question!
