TEODORA PICA
Stemming
from a painters' family specialized in mural art - from father and
grandfather, Teodora Pica was introduced, early in her childhood, to
this complex art, which demands a precise knowledge of the qualities and
the preparation of pigments, as well as its meticulous application in
successive coats.
This education is translated, in the paintings
of Pica, by a merciless concern of the space and the shape. Her majestic
landscapes, in the representation of a mythical place and that of a
dream, contain mysteries, even enigmas. The desire to penetrate into the
surroundings of this vague world persists. Maybe it is the singular and
modern way of the artist to communicate, stemming from memory, that
does not stop questioning us?
Pica recommends three, both
different and additional, approaches in her paintings. So, the
landscape, the floral nature and the not representational artist offer
different treatments to the amateur, but where from certain common
points appear in particular the concern of the artist for the structure
of surfaces. In her landscapes for example, air and vapors, as if a
sfumato soaks and fills the nature, rereleases poetic, quiet and
contemplative works with enigmatic light.
