Sylvain Coulombe was born in Montréal in 1971. He gained public attention in recent years through a series of private contracts. In 1996, he established his own furniture company. Working in the art of furniture finishing, with paints made of milk protein and natural pigments, he developed a unique patina, inspired by Canadian painted furniture from the 17th century. Desiring to push beyond traditional wood furniture, he obtained a degree in environmental design from the Université du Québec at Montréal. There, he discovered contemporary architecture, and the infinite world of creation opened up to him.
