Mark Newton's bronze work relates to organic, cultural, mythical, mystical, spiritual relationships which I articulate through the lens of "personal experience." His goal in these bronze sculptures, whether they are recognizable or abstract, is to capture within these forms the subjects of internal essence and energy. In abstract works he explores the rhythmic energetic dance of the real and the imaginary, to articulate the subtle relationship between the apprehensible and the unseen.
This portal acts as the conduit through which consciousness can flow to reach the inherent reality within and behind the form, and serves as the means to bring the viewer into the freedom of their subjective experience. The dance of their consciousness and imagination. Newton refers to my welded steel sculpture as "soul journeys." They are expressions of an intuitive feeling, contemporary in form, which acknowledges the fluidity of all form and it's ability to serve as a medium for a more integrated consciousness.
