In 2002, Jacques Philippe Hébert won an award as "New Artist Worth Following" at the Montreal International Autumn Salon of Fine Arts. In spring 2003, his first solo exhibition had a great success. This search led Jacques Philippe Hébert to notice an inevitable evolution in his work and allowed him to develop and perfect a unique technique in self-expression. While traveling in Italy, Jacques Philippe Hébert was marvelled at the skills of stained and blown glass artisans and at their ability to create depth in color. He began to wonder how he could integrate these characteristics to his work. Actually, adapting glass work technique to his art became a personal challenge to the point of obsession.
His abstract works evolved into a multidisciplinary approach to his self-expression, starting with painting on canvas, followed by sculptural manipulation of glass elements, and ending with a combination of both techniques. Moreover, the use of colored glass as a medium continuously motivates Jacques Philippe Hébert to comb the world in search of the finest and most unique specimens to enrich his palette. This is how he pioneered his technique.
