In 1978, Danielle enrolled in the École d'art du Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal. Her career as a painter commenced in 1982. Rochon has staged more than thirty solo exhibitions on the international level. She has participated in many projects, particularly the production of an immense ceiling painting 75 feet long by 20 feet wide for Quebec City.
In 1992, she was elected by her peers to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. In all these years of intense work, Rochon has devoted herself completely to the constant search for light with the multiple possibilities generated by colour.
